Who buys IP transit services from us

IP transit suits networks that already run, or are ready to run, their own routing: hosting providers, ISPs and WISPs, enterprises with their own ASN and address space, and anyone who needs a diverse second upstream so a single IP transit provider outage does not take them offline. If you want a reliable backup link rather than a primary, the 100 Mbps tier exists for exactly that.

Where we can deliver circuits

We deliver IP transit out of our core Michigan data centers: 123Net DC4 in Grand Rapids (GRR) and 123Net DC1 in Detroit (DTW). We connect to both GRR-IX and DET-IX from each location for redundancy, and carry Hurricane Electric, Cogent and 123Net as upstream transit, so traffic reaches the major Midwest exchanges in very few hops. If you need a circuit somewhere else, open a sales ticket with the facility and we will tell you what is possible.

Affordable IP transit: flat port or 95th percentile

Transit is sold either as a flat-rate port at a fixed size - 1G, 10G, 25G, 40G and up - or billed on 95th percentile. A flat port is predictable and easy to budget against; 95th percentile bills on sustained usage rather than short spikes, which is usually cheaper for bursty traffic. Overage rates fall as you scale, from $0.50 per Mbit at the entry tier down to $0.15 per Mbit at 10 Gbps.

BGP, addressing and handoffs

Bring your own ASN and prefixes with full BGP community support for traffic steering, or take IP space from us if you need it. IPv4 and IPv6 are both included, and IPv6 is natively supported across our network. Handoffs are over single-mode fiber - 1G-LR or 10G-LR optics, and 40G where required. Cross connect costs are the customer's responsibility.

  • We deliver IP transit out of our core network locations. Open a sales ticket with the datacenter or facility you need a circuit in and we will confirm availability and the closest handoff point.
  • All prices are in USD and billed monthly. You can choose flat-rate bandwidth or 95th percentile billing with the overage rates listed for each tier.
  • Cross connects are the responsibility of the customer. We will provide the exact handoff details (rack, panel, and optic type) so you can order the cross connect through your facility or carrier.
  • Most circuits can be provisioned within a few business days once the cross connect is in place. Timelines depend on the location and the cross connect lead time at your facility.
  • Yes. We provide full BGP with communities so you can control route announcements, prepending, and traffic steering. IPv4 and IPv6 are both supported, and IP space is available with your circuit if needed.
